Meet the Head - Sally Alexander MBE

Sit in on a lesson here and the first thing you’ll notice is how few people are in the room. We cap our classes at ten. Nobody gets lost at the back, nobody gets left behind, and we can build the learning around the pupil rather than the other way round.

The second thing you’ll notice is how much of it is hands-on. Our pupils are encouraged to be curious, to take what they already know and run with it, and our staff are always happy to take that leap with them. Quite a lot of the best learning happens nowhere near a classroom, on trips and visits and out in the world.

Then there’s the school council, which is genuinely at the centre of how this place works. Pupils bring the ideas, pupils raise the issues, and staff are there to guide rather than to take over. They love the responsibility, and they rise to it every time.

We also want our pupils looking well beyond Worcester. We build links with secondary schools locally and around the world, and alongside that we spend real time on British values and culture: what they mean, where they come from, and how you live them day to day.
