Boarding at Kimichi School

Boarding at Kimichi Boarding at Kimichi is small, warm and wonderfully personal. Our house at Elmdon is home to a close community of young people aged 11 to 16, which means every boarder is known as an individual, never a number.

There are a maximum of twenty boarders. Days here are built around the thing that makes Kimichi special, music, and evenings around everything that makes a house feel like home: shared meals, time to relax with friends, quiet space to get homework done, and activities from baking to arts and crafts.

With separate wings for boys and girls and caring staff on hand throughout the evening and night, the house is calm, safe and reassuringly predictable; somewhere your child can settle, rest, make friendships and grow in confidence and independence. We know that choosing boarding is a big decision, so our promise to families is a simple one: your child will be safe, listened to, and never alone.

From their very first day a named adult helps them find their feet, and our small classes and close pastoral care mean nothing slips through the cracks. Our more affordable fees and weekly boarding offer alongside full time boarding mean that we are more mean that we are more accessible to families who might think boarding is out of reach. Whether your son or daughter is a budding musician or simply ready to flourish in a supportive, creative community, we would love to show you what life at Kimichi could be.

Boarding at Kimichi School in Acocks Green offers students a unique balance of focus and opportunity, placing them within easy reach of one of the UK’s most vibrant urban centres. Being so close to Birmingham means students benefit from a dynamic environment rich in history, innovation, and creativity, while still enjoying the supportive and structured atmosphere of school life. This proximity allows boarders to experience the energy of a major city without sacrificing the sense of community and belonging that comes with a close-knit school setting.

Birmingham’s cultural diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and students at Kimichi are perfectly positioned to engage with it. From world-class music venues and art galleries to international cuisine and festivals celebrating cultures from across the globe, the city provides endless opportunities for enrichment beyond the classroom.
